Avocado Protein Brownie Bites

Nutrient dense brownies headed your way!
I will admit first thing that I have a huge sweet tooth! I could consume chocolate at every meal some days! This means I like to always have a few snacks on hand at all times that have a little chocolate in them, but are also on the healthier side that contain more whole foods like these avocado brownies! Having these bite sized treats always on hand means that I can satisfy my sweet tooth without going over board on the sweets!
I’ve definitely learned that balance is really key to health and nutrition but it can be a long process for someone who comes from a dieting mindset. I’ve had my own struggles with finding my own balance in life and am honestly working on it everyday. The more you tine in to your natural hunger and cravings that your body is sending you the easier it becomes to honor those cravings. The body is smart and in tune to what it needs most at that moment so I encourage you to listen to it! The body’s job is to keep you healthy and well after all so it wouldn’t be craving a little chocolate if it didn’t need it! Some days you might want a giant bowl of lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, and carrots other days you might be craving a smoothie or brownie. I am here to tell you that those cravings are okay and should be honored!
Let's Talk Brownies!

So now let’s talk about these brownies and just how good they are (both taste and health wise:)!
These brownies contain avocado and almond butter that provide good for you fats that make the brownie fudgey and delicious while providing essential vitamins and minerals like vitamin E, folate, and iron to support healthy cell function.
While cocoa powder works fine in this recipe I would suggest switching to cacao powder after you use up the cocoa if you want to enhance your nutritional bang for your buck! I like this brand of cacao powder but any kind works well. The reason I would suggest switching is because this is a less processed version of cocoa powder that will add more fiber to support a healthy gut, more protein which is important in maintaining and growing muscle mass, more magnesium which is needed for energy metabolism and healthy psychological function, bones and teeth and if that wasn’t enough cacao powder will even provide antioxidants and other beneficial compounds to help reduce anxiety, act as a natural mood booster and support the health of your skin!
While I touched on the benefits of the avocado, nut butter, and cacao in these, I am also going to quickly mention just how important protein is for our health and why I chose to use chocolate protein powder in this recipe!
Protein is essential for maintaining strength, muscle mass and even helps boost your immunity! Many desserts and treats lack protein and in turn are less satisfying leading to you craving more than you first might have wanted. By using protein powder in this recipe it makes these brownie bites more filling and nutrient dense.
You can use any protein powder you like best! In these I used Organifi Chocolate protein powder which is my all time favorite! You can use the discount code HOLLYSBEST to get 15% off your order and if you’re not as excited about it as I am just contact customer service and they will refund you 100%! The reason I love them so much is because this product provides 20g of plant based organic protein in every serving along with a digestive enzyme blend to support digestive health as well as a complete multivitamin. Another one of my favorite protein powders which I have also used for these is Nuzest protein powder which is also vegan! You can also get 15% off their entire store by using Hollysbestlife at checkout to get 15% off your order! Their products are Vegan • Gluten free • Dairy free • Soy free • Lectin free • Non-GMO and come in all different flavors! They even have a chocolate and vanilla digestive blend and digestive enzymes that help with bloating, digestion and gut health! These are just some of my favorite brands but like I said before feel free to use your favorite! You can even switch from brownies to blondies by using vanilla protein powder, cashew butter and using applesauce or mashed banana in place of the avocado! I will post the recipe I use as well shortly!
If you’re not a fan of protein powder don’t worry I have options! There are a few options I have tried and I will share them below! If you have questions just leave me them in the comments and I will get back to you!
